Want to have access to your files offline? Learn how to setup your project backup files so you can work offline in the event of a power outage or lost internet connection
Verify Proper Connections to Cloud Link
- Make sure your RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) Settings are Setup to give Access to your Local PC.
- Open your Remote Desktop Connection
- Toggle to the "Local Resources" Tab and click on "More..."
- Ensure that both "Ports" and OS (C:) under "Drives" is checked.
🗒️Note: If you are setting your backups to a different drive (additional hard drive, external hard drive, Google or OneDrive, etc.), Follow these same directions and ensure the proper Drive is checked.
⚠️Tip: Contact your IT Administrator if these check boxes are not available to you when checking your RDP Settings. They will need to make changes to your RDP Options.
Make Changes in Estimating Link
- Connect to Cloud Link and open your Estimating Link program.
- Click on Setup>Options.
- Navigate to the "Database" Tab.
- Under DB Backup, Click the "Browse" button
- A Browse window will display. All the drives that you checked when you setup your Cloud Link connections will be displayed. Your Remote Desktop drives will also be displayed. Your local drives will look like this: "[Drive Name] on [Local PC Name]".
- Open the Local drive where you want to back up your project files. For instance, if you want to save your files somewhere on your C drive on your local PC, you would select "C on [local computer name]".
- From there, you can drill down and find the folder that you want to save your backup files.
- Google Drive folders will typically be labeled the "G Drive"
- One Drive Folders will be located under the C drive under "Users"
- Any other C Drive folders will typically be found under "Users"
- It is recommended that you make a new folder to house your project files
- Rename the Folder "Estimating Link Backups."
- Click "OK."
- You will see the new backup path you created listed in your DB Backup settings.
- You have now successfully started saving a copy of your Estimating Link projects to your local PC. You can utilize a locally installed version of Estimating Link to work on your projects in the event of a power outage or Cloud Link connection issue.
