Step by step instructions on updating Estimating Link on a server.
Prerequisites
- Must be on an active Estimating Link Maintenance & Support Plan/Subscription
When there is a database change in an Estimating Link update, all users will need to close out of Estimating Link before you can update the server.
When there is not database change, this is not necessary but we recommend it as a best practice.
Note - A database change in an update is noted in the version in parentheses.
Step 2 - Download Estimating Link Update
Now that all users have Estimating Link closed, one user needs to download and install the update (and keep Estimating Link closed):
- Log into Estimating Link Downloads. Enter your:
- Username: TCLI Customer Number
- Password: TCLI Customer Password
- Select EL3_Update.exe to download
Step 3 -Install Estimating Link Update
When the download is complete, open the file from where it was downloaded to, right click on EL3_Update.exe and run as administrator.
If prompted with the User Account Control:
Click Yes.
The Estimating Link V3 Setup window will now appear:
Click Next.
The window will now provide the option to change the default directory:
Click Next to proceed with the default settings or click Browse to select the directory you would like to use.
The window will now prompt you to accept the End User License Agreement:
Read the agreement and select I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.
The window will now prompt you to install:
Click Install to Continue or Cancel to quit.
The window will now display Competing The Estimating Link V3 Setup Wizard:
If you would like to view the readme file that includes what has been updated and/or changed in this version, then leave this box checked.
Check Launch Estimating Link V3 to open Estimating Link immediately.
Click Finish.
If prompted to update database, click Yes.
Step 4 - Update Other Users
Important: It is important to have all users on the same versions when sharing projects to eliminate compatibility issues.
